Welcome to the last academic week of the school year! Congratulations to the seniors who wrapped up their work last week. This week, we will focus on supporting underclassmen with finishing up academics, focusing on closing out open modules.
Students, stay tuned for communication from your advisors to schedule a time for you to stop by school next week (for seniors, it’ll be Monday or Tuesday; for underclassmen, it will be Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday) to return laptops and books, clean out your lockers, and close out the year with your advisor. We hope to see you all one last time this school year! Before we jump into academics, here’s a fun note for you to nerd out on: all the Harry Potter audiobooks are available to listen to for free (just go to our local online library site and click the orange banner at the top), and famous actors have just started recording themselves reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. You can follow along on Pottermore.

Spring is here! We have a few weeks to go before summer break finally hits. Seniors, this is your final week to wrap up work! Communicate with the staff as much as you can so we stay on the same page. You can each get this done - it just takes some hard work. But it’s worth it! Underclassmen, check in with your advisor about what work to focus on to finish the year strong. Focus on wrapping up open credits!
Parents and guardians, we will be having family Zoom chats every Tuesday afternoon for the next few weeks so you can check in with us if you need to. You have been hearing from advisors regularly, but we want to make ourselves as available to you as possible as we wrap up this bizarre spring! Join us from 2:30 to 3:00 to ask any questions you have about the semester, classes, or transitioning to next year. Check your e-mail for the link. If you need a little break from your work, check out this guy rapping Dr. Seuss books! We’ll give English points to anyone who can match him. :) And finally, be sure to participate in our virtual spirit week this week! See info at the bottom of today’s notes for how to participate and send those photos to Christine!

CCHS Virtual Spirit Week! Join in the fun May 4 - 8 to show your school spirit and be entered to win prizes! Here’s how it works:
MONDAY: Star Wars Day - May the Fourth Be With You!
TUESDAY: Favorite Person Day
WEDNESDAY: Wellness Wednesday
THURSDAY: Relax in Your PJ’s Day
FRIDAY: CCHS School Gear Day
Happy Monday! Here’s a little taste of how some people are handling quarantine. A museum director in England challenged other curators to a “curator battle” of creepy things last week - inviting them to share the creepiest object in their collection. And wow, did they deliver. Check it out! That mermaid… ?
Have you looked at the weather forecast for this week? Mid-70’s! Find some time to revel in the sun this week. We all need to be getting outside more. We are going to mix things up next week with a virtual Spirit Week! Stay tuned for details this week (check your e-mail and Advisory Google Classroom) and be ready to get your spirit on next week! We’ll have priiiiiiizes!

How ‘bout that Colorado spring, eh? As the weather shifts, and shifts, and shifts, find some moments to get outside and bask in fresh air. Yes, stay safe and distanced, but don’t distance yourself from the sun when it appears! And while you are inside, look up #songsofcomfort on Instagram. Yo-Yo Ma (world famous cellist) started sharing music with that hashtag, and now there are several thousand videos of amateur and professional musicians sharing a little music with the world. It’s a great way to unwind!
You’ll see in the module section that teachers are offering new modules again this week. We want to continue keeping classes fresh, but please know that you can still focus on wrapping up a module you started in the last couple weeks if you aren’t done yet. It’s important to wrap up those loose ends while the info is still fresh.

In this strange time of social distancing and staying at home, it’s fun to see how people are finding creative ways to connect. Check out John Krazynski’s Some Good News show for updates on what is going well in the world and watch some virtual choirs perform! In difficult times throughout history, people tend to find ways to stay uplifted, despite the challenges they are facing. This is one of those times! Look for simple ways to feel grounded and to connect with others - send e-mails, host a video chat, do some mindfulness, walk in nature.
And remember, we are here for you! Students, you know by now that your advisor is reaching out to you and your family regularly. The whole CCHS staff is thinking of you every day and missing you!

We have successfully completed one week of remote learning! Thanks to students, families, and staff for your ongoing flexibility and patience as we work out the kinks. Governor Polis has extended remote learning requirements through April 30, so we will continue with our process! Remember that, although we aren’t setting minimum expectations for contracts, all the work completed during this time will contribute towards credits and graduation requirements. So keep at it!
Our family Q&A session is this afternoon - Monday, April 6, at 3:00. It’s on Zoom! Please check the e-mail we sent out for the link to join in. If you need paper materials to work without the internet at home, please stop by Tuesday mornings each week from 8:00 to 10:00 to pick them up. Teachers will be providing one module each week with internet and non-internet options. If that time slot doesn’t work for you, you can arrange another pick-up time with your advisor - or we can mail you materials. Just let us know what works best for you! Families, look out for an e-mail from your student’s advisor every Monday morning with an update on their progress from the previous week. We’ll let you know where they are with their work and how much engagement we have seen from them. We are reaching out daily through a mixture of posts in each student’s Advisory Classroom (on Google Classroom), texts, and e-mails. Please let us know if there are other ways we can support you and your students during this time.

We start Monday Morning Meeting each week with a few minutes of mindfulness, and this morning, our focus was compassion in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. In order to be kind and show compassion to others, we must start with being kind and showing compassion to ourselves! Humans are quick to criticize, but it is kindness that allows us to solve problems, not criticism. So as you move through your week, take moments to find compassion around you. And have a good week!

With the first full week of the semester, we will hit the ground running! As we head into Spring semester, you may notice a heavier shift towards helping seniors. This is true, to a degree. We will start working with students who intend to graduate - looking at remaining requirements, helping set goals, holding them accountable. But we'll also support underclassmen along the way, of course!
If you are planning to graduate in May, expect the speed to ramp up significantly. Most of you are not currently where you should be if you want a relaxing spring... but not to worry! Yet. Start shifting gears now to sort out your plans and wrap up loose ends. Ask questions, advocate for yourself as needed, and hold yourself accountable. The staff will encourage and support you each step of the way, but we will not work harder than you will. And on that note, here we go! General announcements

Welcome back! We're happy to see each one of you. Yes, it's a weird week: two days, and on a Thursday and Friday! The extra days off for students gave staff a few days to prep, which was welcome, but it also means we have something unprecedented ahead of us: a full day for all students on Friday! So let's roll with it, be productive, and have some fun along the way.
