General announcements
  • Test Prep week was tough - totally different structure and approach from what we usually do. Thanks for sticking with it! 
    • While difficult, it’s important to be able to switch modes and be successful in different settings
    • Standardized tests reflect on the school: can you take tests successfully? you’ll be taking tests in a variety of settings throughout your life; we have a responsibility to prepare you for that mindset
  • Thank you to the students who helped put up pinwheels at High Country Bank to recognize Child Abuse Prevention Month
  • Schedule for the week:
    • Testing starts right away Monday morning, which is why you all made contracts on Friday
    • Breakfast will be available Monday and Tuesday for all testers
    • If you want hot lunch, tell Karen when you arrive - make arrangements before testing starts
    • Monday and Tuesday, students can leave after lunch or stay to work independently in the building
    • If you take a BVHS class, there is a regular schedule on Monday (contact your teacher about missing class that day), no class Tuesday or Wednesday
    • Wednesday is Early Release
    • Testing details:
      • There will be signs on each classroom door of which test is being administered and which students are taking it
      • No cell phones!No cell phones.No cell phones in the building while testing. So don’t bring your phone. Because no cell phones.
      • You can bring a water bottleif it has a lid- no open cups.
      • On Monday, you can read a book when you’re done testing; on Tuesday, you can’t have any extra material
      • If you need to use the restroom, be ninja-like. And time doesn’t stop while you’re taking that break
    • Monday
      • 9th grade: community service with Jeannette
      • 10th grade: ACT Aspire
      • 11th grade: CMAS
      • 12th grade: working independently. Christine will be available at the Midland Station (right by Splash Park) all morning - come work with her on your own and/or set up an appointment to work together
    • Tuesday
      • 9th grade: PSAT
      • 10th grade: PSAT
      • 11th grade: SAT
      • 12th grade: working independently. Christine will be available at the Midland Station (right by Splash Park) all morning - come work with her on your own and/or set up an appointment to work together
    • Wednesday - Friday

      • there have been significant problems with students being in Cory’s room when he’s teaching over at BVHS - it’s not ok to sit in his room and watch videos. If you cannot work independently, you may not sign up for math during the block when Cory’s out of the building

    What are MMMM?

    At the start of each week, the whole school gets together for a Monday Morning Meeting. Here, staff give general announcements, and teachers present their modules for the week. After the meeting, students create contracts, signing up for the modules they will take and other activities they will participate in.
