General announcements
  • If you fail this contract, you’ll be headed to sabbatical
    • Re-entry board: plan on being here Friday afternoon this week
  • Fridays are not half days - they are independent work time
    • You still need to log in for attendance
    • You need to be completing your module work
    • If students aren’t logging in and doing work, the independent work Friday afternoons will go away
  • House Bill 1451 Board: build your resume! great for jobs and colleges
  • Students looking to graduate in December (Sydney, Sean?)

    • need to work hard on finishing other modules pronto to be ready for senior elements

General
  • pretty normal week, apart from early release Wednesday (condensed schedule)
  • tomorrow: all school principals and superintendent will be at CCHS to observe (not an assessment, just practice for admin)
  • didn’t pass contract last week? you have one more chance before being placed on sabbatical
    • if you didn’t pass last time, work with your advisor - make sure you pass this time!
    • next check: Friday, September 25, check #2
    • you must be here on Fridays to pass contract! know you’re missing the day? check in with advisory ahead of time

    • Mike is looking for ideas - doesn’t need to be finalized yet

    • Thursday: all school Silvercliff trip - ropes course and swimming
  • Thursday:

    • 12% of students didn’t feel safe in CCHS last year

Other notes
  • Skateboarding warnings from police officers
    • Ticket for skateboarding in the street or on the sidewalk on Main Street
      • it’s ok to skateboard on the sidewalk between here and the river
    • Double ticket for holding onto a vehicle while skateboarding
  • Communication among students
    • chest puffing and intimidation language has to stop
    • no hat flipping
    • no alpha male/female behavior 
    • no behavior that encourages “fight or flight” from someone else
    • stop inappropriate language, especially words like the ’n’ word - never ok
    • staff will call it out - redirects 
  • Redirects may not include the official word - teachers and students both know what constitutes a redirect
    • “I’m sorry” means I’m working towards not doing that behavior again; it’s not a "get out of jail free” card
  • Recycling
    • three bins: cans, plastic, glass
    • please recycle! these resources are not renewable
  • Wash your dishes! Don’t assume Candace will do it

    What are MMMM?

    At the start of each week, the whole school gets together for a Monday Morning Meeting. Here, staff give general announcements, and teachers present their modules for the week. After the meeting, students create contracts, signing up for the modules they will take and other activities they will participate in.
