    • Next week is a week of make-up - if you aren’t done by the end of next week, out of school sabbatical is a possibility
  • BV Strong Dinner is tonight at 5:45 (tables 147, 148, 149). Come join in!
  • Windy with Family and Youth Initiative
    • Inspire Grant: getting youth engaged in outdoor activities - initiate a project in Chaffee County
      • looking for about 10 students to participate in a focus group this morning during elective (there are prizes!)
  • October 5 is Count Day (with wiggle window a week before and after)
    • all school BBQ! community members are invited

General announcements
  • The parking lot is getting trashed - please be more conscious about our space! 
  • Please keep the kitchen clean!
  • Book club is starting October 12 through the Chaffee County Mentors: Girl Sent Away
    • See flyer on the bulletin board… possible opportunity for English points (Ind R&W)
  • Next Monday - Windy from Family Youth Initiatives will come to talk
    • Inspire Grant - looking for ideas for service learning-type projects to do with students. Windy needs a youth advisory board to help her come up with projects to get teens outside. Snow shoes? sleeping bags? ski passes? etc.
  • Little Annie overnight this Thurs-Fri.  Information and packing list will be emailed to parents and students
    • Thursday will work as Friday schedule – close contracts on Thursday before noon
    • New Dogs leave in the morning
    • Old Dogs - teachers will pick up at 3:00
    • If you need gear, talk to Juli
      • Bring warm layers! more than just a sweatshirt. It’ll get cold at night

      • Adventure science fiction story about a kid in high school who is a bit of a dork but discovers he has a superpower - ability to shoot electricity. Ends up teaming with other kids with similar powers and battling bad guys… and it’s part of a series! Start reading!
    • Creative Writing workshop this Saturday at Watershed, 9:30-12:00 - earn 20 points for English

General announcements
  • NWEA testing this week during the mornings - Rachel will lead
    • normed against other alternative schools around the country
    • if you pass the 11th grade scoring, you get 50 points in that subject the first time you get the cut score
      • after earning the initial cut score, each time your score increases 4 points, you earn 25 points toward that subject
  • New Dogs: Disco in the morning (Cory’s room), Science Skills in the afternoon
  • Wednesday: ropes course field trip at Trails West
    • wear closed toed shoes, no short skirts
  • Change to schedule: Little Annie overnight will be just Thursday night 
    • New Dogs will leave early; Old Dogs will come up after school
  • Please log in by 9:00 in the AM and 1:00 in the PM
  • Lost and Found - white basket between Graff’s and Rachel’s room
  • Kitchen: please clean your own dishes! 
    • The kitchen is currently closed because the mess got out of hand. No using dishes, stove, or microwave

General announcements
  • Second week of first contract
  • Today: elective, but no other advisory
  • Senior meeting next week
  • Students shouldn’t be going out the back door 
    • If you leave out the back door without communicating, that could be grounds for dismissal for the day
  • Computers: our laptops are actually good - please take care of them! 
    • The first time you log on to one of the computers here, it’ll take a while because it’s loading your profile. Be patient.
  • We were pretty lenient with school expectations last week because it was the first week of school - that was last week! 
    • It’s important to stick to our expectations with tardiness, language, behavior, etc.
    • Don’t be mean muggin’! Work hard. Be nice. 
  • The third BV Strong dinner is September 26. We are getting tables for the school. Come join us!
  • Mike will be out on Friday
  • Cory teaches one class at BVHS every afternoon. We’ll have a sub every day at 2:00 (Reba)

    What are MMMM?

    At the start of each week, the whole school gets together for a Monday Morning Meeting. Here, staff give general announcements, and teachers present their modules for the week. After the meeting, students create contracts, signing up for the modules they will take and other activities they will participate in.
