weekly meetings: making a "self paced, self placed" plan

MMM 22 February

2/22/2021

This is our last week of the advisory competition for February’s Kindness for Community theme. Participate this week and earn points for your advisory by participating in community service, doing the Love Languages survey (if you haven’t already) and buying cards for the Foods for Friends fundraiser for BV Cares (see details below). Thank you for all the good you are doing for the community!

General announcements
  • Appreciations!
    • Jeremiah - Nancy for helping out last week
    • Nancy - Keenan and Tyler for mean card playing fun!
    • Robiny - thanks to the students in the screenwriting module for working so hard!
    • Danny - advisory for putting in a great effort with the service projects on Monday
    • Madalynn - Robiny for handling the module last week gracefully
    • Steve - cheers to Kaileb for such a great effort with the service project
    • Christine - thank you to everyone for participating in mock interviews and for Natalie for working hard to set them up
  • Promptness
    • Our general practice - not new, but a reminder: if students are late to class (in the morning, after advisory off, or after lunch), the advisor will ask the student to return for the next block
      • Students who communicate in advance may be permitted to return, unless it becomes a pattern
    • If students come late to MMM, they will need to return at second block with contract filled out
      • Read MMM for important notices and module offerings
    • Why is this our practice? Because time is valuable, as is personal responsibility. Being prompt is an important adulting skill. Missing MMM means you are missing valuable information and are not setting yourself up for a strong week; it also impacts your advisor, the other teachers, and your classmates when you come late
    • Thank you to everyone who is generally prompt!
  • Palentine’s Party
    • Have fun and harken back to the good ol’ days of elementary school Valentine’s parties
    • Sign up with your advisor
    • You’ll get a list of everyone who has signed up by the end of the day tomorrow
    • Bring a palentine for everyone on the list on Thursday
    • Party will be Thursday during office hours - exchange palentines, have ice cream sundaes, enjoy being together
  • Food for Friends
    • Fundraiser for BV Cares
    • Buy a card for a friend from Christine between Monday and Wednesday and choose a bag of chips, a soda, or a candy bar to go with it
    • You can also order for friends at BVHS
    • Write a note on the card to be delivered with your gift
    • Christine will deliver the food on Thursday
    • All orders will count towards Kindness for Community advisory competition
  • Kindness for Community advisory competition - current standings
    • Danny’s: 18 points
    • Robiny’s: 17 points
    • Steve’s: 24 points
