Schedule
  • Monday schedule today
  • Short week - mini-modules
    • Field trip Wednesday with Rachel and Candace
    • Thursday: all school Silvercliff trip - ropes course and swimming
  • Thursday:
    • 10 points!
    • low ropes initiatives
    • hot springs pool (nice and warm, ahhhh)
    • challenge by choice
    • no flip flops - wear decent shoes
    • bring bathing suit and towel
    • lunch is provided
    • fill out liability form - must get parent signature if under 18
  • Friday: half day schedule
    • log in Friday afternoons! say what you’re working on or that you’re course complete
    • contracts need to be done and signed off by noon Friday

  • English
    • AM: Independent R&W finish up OR writing mini-module (creative writing or persuasive writing)
    • PM: English skills - finish packets and 3.8s by Friday
    • Word of the Week: prognosticate (to make a prediction/tell in advance)
  • Math
    • just today and Friday b/c of trips
    • if you’re just starting, you’ll review ALEKs and C-TACHS
    • submit point tracker
  • Science
    • AM: Colorado Ecosystems
      • Field trip Wednesday to Independence Pass and grottos
        • any old dogs can go - earn 10 points (sorry, new dogs)
        • sign-up is on Rachel’s door - bus can fit 12 students
        • bring a lunch, wear jeans and decent walking shoes

  • Thanks to old dogs for respecting space in the commons during Disco
  • Surveys coming up - safe school and healthy kids - time during electives, maybe points
  • “Safe to Tell” program

      • anonymous hotline - report a tip if you don’t feel safe or are concerned about someone else
    • 12% of students didn’t feel safe in CCHS last year
    • 20% have had suicidal thoughts or attempts
    • bullying behaviors lead to depression or suicidal thoughts
  • Volunteers for re-entry meetings Friday afternoon (pizza and ice cream!)
    • Part of a team that decides if students are ready to come back from sabbatical

Other notes
  • Skateboarding warnings from police officers
    • Ticket for skateboarding in the street or on the sidewalk on Main Street
      • it’s ok to skateboard on the sidewalk between here and the river
    • Double ticket for holding onto a vehicle while skateboarding
  • Communication among students
    • chest puffing and intimidation language has to stop
    • no hat flipping
    • no alpha male/female behavior 
    • no behavior that encourages “fight or flight” from someone else
    • stop inappropriate language, especially words like the ’n’ word - never ok
    • staff will call it out - redirects 
  • Redirects may not include the official word - teachers and students both know what constitutes a redirect
    • “I’m sorry” means I’m working towards not doing that behavior again; it’s not a "get out of jail free” card
  • Recycling
    • three bins: cans, plastic, glass
    • please recycle! these resources are not renewable
  • Wash your dishes! Don’t assume Candace will do it

    What are MMMM?

    At the start of each week, the whole school gets together for a Monday Morning Meeting. Here, staff give general announcements, and teachers present their modules for the week. After the meeting, students create contracts, signing up for the modules they will take and other activities they will participate in.
