General announcements
  • Friday expectations
    • You can’t leave until your work is done
      • If your work is not done by 11:00 a.m., you must stay to work on it Friday afternoon
    • You must check out with your advisor and get a check-out sheet at whatever time you are leaving
  • Schedule this week
    • Tuesday: follow a Monday schedule
    • Wednesday: Pete and Christine have Mindfulness, Cory and Kayla are off
    • Thursday: Cory and Kayla have Mindfulness, Pete and Christine are off
  • The Commons should be a library-like attitude
    • work independently, work quietly
    • language expectations stay the same
    • clean up your stuff when you are done - academic work, food stuffs, clothes, etc.
  • Dishes in the kitchen: if they are left out, they are thrown out. Wash and store your dishes!
  • If you are done a few minutes early in ICAP, you may be asked to do three good things for the school (tidying, sorting, etc.)
    • Show that you care for the building
  • Dress code reminder: don’t wear anything that is provocative
    • Nothing connected to alcohol or weed
    • Nothing offensive
  • Smoking
    • This is a tobacco-free school; leave any tobacco products at home
    • No smoking anywhere near the school - especially in front of the elementary school and preschool
    • Have the common decency to hide your filthy habits
    • Natalie is running NOT (Not on Tobacco) starting 
    • The county is trying to curb underage smoking
  • ICAP time - we are continuing to refine this time to keep it relevant and meaningful
  • If you have a problem with your computer, talk to Cory or Mike
    • Bring your laptop to Mike with a sticky note that explains the problem
  • Food backpacks - they’ll be delivered in reusable bags this year; you’ll need to return your bag to receive one the following week

    • All American Boys- novel about a black boy beaten by a white cop and the controversy that ensues
    • Flight- novel about a Native American boy who almost goes on a rampage but is transported to different times of violence in US history
    • Kindred- graphic novel about black woman teleported through time repeatedly to protect a white boy during times of slavery
  • Christine will be at a conference Wednesday p.m. - Friday; Kathy Keidel will be subbing
  • 1: Board Games and Blogging
    • Connect module - Play and evaluate board games
  • 2: Reading and Writing
    • Start in the classroom to check in and create goals
  • 3: Editorializing
    • Connect module - write a publishable editorial about a topic that is important to you

    What are MMMM?

    At the start of each week, the whole school gets together for a Monday Morning Meeting. Here, staff give general announcements, and teachers present their modules for the week. After the meeting, students create contracts, signing up for the modules they will take and other activities they will participate in.
