General announcements
  • New contract! 
    • #1
    • 54 points (no school next Monday)
  • We have turtles! they aren't named yet, but we’re taking suggestions. Be nice to the turtles! they do bite. No hands in the tank!
    • Red-eared Sliders
    • Rachel needs students to take care of them (water changed, food) - Science points
  • There’s also a bearded dragon in the Science room - Rachel needs a student to help with that, too
  • Our new dogs broke the name game record - a whopping 1.8 seconds!
  • Accuplacer will be this Wednesday for anyone wanting to take CMC classes
  • Why is Peter Pan always flying?
    • Because he can never Neverland
  • We need a student to take over the hydroponics (service learning project)

  • Advisory/Elective schedule this year
    • Monday: advisory is right after morning meeting - time to create contracts; elective 10:00-10:30
    • Tuesday: Mindfulness and DBT for Advisory and Elective
    • Wednesday: Cory and Christine advisories off (advisory activities for the other two groups); elective as usual
    • Thursday: Graff and Rachel advisories are off (advisory activities for the other two groups; elective as usual 
    • Friday: no advisory or elective
  • Front door locks at 8:10 and 12:30 - if you come after the door is locked, you need a guardian to excuse you
  • FYI (Family and Youth Initiatives) is having a free picnic today! open to everyone
    • 6:00-8:00 p.m. by the softball fields
  • We’ll be having an evac drill sometime this week
  • Parent teacher conferences will be coming up soon - more on that closer to the time
  • We have a new superintendent this year - Lisa Yates

      • Little boy grows up in a graveyard after a guy kills his family, and ghosts raise and protect him. … but the guy who killed the boys’s family is coming after the boy, too.  Great adventure, fantasy, mystery, suspense.
  • Math
    • AM: Fantasy Football - a full module plus opportunities to earn extra points throughout the semester
    • PM: Aleks
  • Science
    • Why don’t you use cheap adhesive? Because it’s tacky...
    • AM: no module - Rachel is with Disco
    • PM: Environmental Science class
      • earn points for CCHS and a college credit from CMC - six modules throughout the year

    • We have so many freedoms at CCHS, self-motivation is huge! think about what motivates you - what will help you keep going?
  • Disco will be in Rachel’s room this week during the AM module
  • CMC classes: if you are interested in taking a class this semester, talk to Juli
    • paperwork must be in today!
    • CCHS can pay for up to two classes per semester if you pass (if you fail, you have to pay the fee independently)
  • NOT will start soon (Not On Tobacco)
    • for students working on an addiction - gives you skills on how to quit something unhealthy
    • talk to Juli if you are interested

Karen info
  • Thanks to everyone who has brought paperwork back! If you haven’t, please bring in your paperwork
  • New Dogs - sign in and out at the front desk until computer logins are set up
  • Recycling bins are by Karen’s desk and next to the laptop case
  • If you want a locker, talk to Karen
  • If you want to get lunch at APE, talk to Karen to get you set up 
    • students will get IDs; Miss Ellis and Mr. McFarland will be coming to talk to students about procedure and appropriate behavior
    • make sure you have money in your account first
    • if you qualify for free/reduced lunch, bring in your paperwork!

Community Service/Service Learning
  • Mini Blessings schedule is in the works
  • Wednesday: Computer Recycling
  • Interested in doing community service at the Preschool? talk to Jeannette
    • Getting program set up for Mini Blessings with Preschool
  • There may be opportunities to help Jennifer with the community garden at the middle school
  • Every student needs 5 hours of community service for each semester enrolled at CCHS

    What are MMMM?

    At the start of each week, the whole school gets together for a Monday Morning Meeting. Here, staff give general announcements, and teachers present their modules for the week. After the meeting, students create contracts, signing up for the modules they will take and other activities they will participate in.
