General announcements
  • Little Annie overnight
    • Natalie sent an e-mail to students; Karen sent it to parents
    • If you don’t have equipment, we can provide - sign up to let us know what you need
    • A leadership team of students (mixture of Old Dogs and New Dogs) will plan and lead the trip
    • No student vehicles
  • Schedule for the week
    • Tuesday
      • Prep during ICAP block 
    • Wednesday
      • School photos in the morning
      • Advisory: 
        • Pete and Christine: regular advisory
        • Kayla and Cory: Mindfulness
      • New Dogs leave after lunch with Natalie and Cory
      • Old Dogs leave after school with Mike, Pete, and Christine
    • Thursday
      • Breakfast
      • module activities (whichever class you have for second block)
      • return around lunch time - students are dismissed for the day
    • Friday
      • Check day (regular Friday schedule)
  • Re-entry meetings
    • If you go on sabbatical (two failed contracts in one academic quarter)
    • Sabbatical might be in-school or out-of-school and will have specific expectations/goals established by your advisor
    • Before you come back to school, you need to schedule a re-entry meeting - they’re scheduled on Fridays
      • Check in: Why were you on sabbatical? what did you accomplish based on your sabbatical expectations? what are you going to do differently to not be on sabbatical again?
  • Computer chargers
    • each student computer has a designated charger in its official charging station 
    • make sure you plug in your computer at night and during lunch!
    • we do have extra chargers - please put them back when you are done
    • be a problem solver! make sure the outlet is working, the power strip is turned on, etc.
    • four desktops are set up now as a back-up if you are completely flummoxed 
  • Kayla leaves at 11:30(because she is part-time)
    • If you are in Kayla’s second block, you need to stay in Kayla’s room to complete your work
  • ASL classes
    • Wednesday afternoons
    • If you are interested in learning ASL, sign up on Mike’s door
  • Don’t take each other’sfood! Be respectful to each other
  • Quiet room:it sometimes gets loud in here… we are going to try establishing one classroom each block as a room to work quietly
    • First block: Cory’s room
    • Second block: Christine’s room
    • Third block: Kayla’s room
    • you need a pass from your advisor to be in the Quiet room any given block
  • What did one math book say to the other?
    • “Boy, I have a lot of problems… how about you?"

  • 1: No module - plan block for Christine
  • 2: Reading and Writing
    • Book recommendation:Maus (I and II)
      • The graphic novel that brought graphic novels into the arena of literature - tough content but a really valuable read
  • 3: Picture Book Inquiry [Construct module]
    • How does curiosity fuel knowledge?
    • Do research based on a historical picture book
Math
  • 1: Google Classroom
    • Work in the math classroom
    • Minimum: 8 assignments a week
  • 2: History of Technology: Astronomy
    • Counts towards Tech credit
    • Technological aspects of astronomy advances: spectronomy, development of telescope, sextants 
  • 3:Google Classroom
Science
  • ​1: Chemical Equations
    • Acid/Base reaction lab Tuesday
  • 2: Plant vs. Animal Cells
    • Plants, animals, bacteria
  • 3: No module [Kayla is part-time]
Social Studies
  • ​1: Geography: North and South America
  • 2: Intro to Philosophy
  • 3: Ancient Egypt 
  • If you turn in a paper, it must be in proper MLA formatting! See Reading and Writing Handbook

    • Mask-making week

ICAP
  • Tuesday: Little Annie Leaders do trip prep
  • Wednesday: Old Dog leaders help pack and prep


Community Service

    What are MMMM?

    At the start of each week, the whole school gets together for a Monday Morning Meeting. Here, staff give general announcements, and teachers present their modules for the week. After the meeting, students create contracts, signing up for the modules they will take and other activities they will participate in.
